The Greensburg Fire Department has begun testing the Tone-to-Text application to determine if it will benefit their department.
Enhancing Communication
The Greensburg Fire Department is hoping to leverage the Tone-to-Text application as a means of enhancing their communication capabilities between its members. The department is attempting to circumvent the communication problems seen with today’s current paging technology by utilizing the cellular text messaging capabilities of the Tone-to-Text application as a redundant communication system.
About the Greensburg Fire Department
The Greensburg Fire Department takes pride in serving and protecting the citizens and visitors of the City of Greensburg and Washington Township of Decatur County Indiana.
We are paid department in southeastern Indiana and not all of our members live in our county. This presented a hurdle when attempting to call back personnel for manpower when relying on a radio based pager system only. The Tone-to-Text program has added an easily accessed and implemented communication source for our department. We are now reaching members in areas that we were not capable of reaching prior to the use of this system. It has also allowed for special or group messaging. The average response time frame of a message being sent, to being received has ranged from approximately 10 seconds to less than four minutes. This is a great improvement from personnel not receiving a message via the standards Minitor pagers.
@Ron Clark – We are pleased to hear that the Tone-to-Text system has been instrumental in enhancing your communications capabilities. Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance.
I would like to know if there is away to reset the time clock on the Tone-to-Text it is aprooximately 3-4 minutes off.
@Ron Clark – The clock is updated based on your PC’s clock. Unfortunately, your PC’s clock is not the most accurate system in the world. I am working to resolve this issue as I have also seen it as well. For now, the only way to update the clock is to exit and restart the application. Please let me know if you have any more questions.
