The Tone-to-Text application comes pre-configured to utilize the VFD Software Solutions email server. However, you will need to modify the software configuration, via the Configure Network Settings screen, to utilize your department's local email service (i.e. from your local ISP). Continued use of the default network configuration will result in delayed or missed text alerts. If you don't know your local email configuration information, you may contact your local ISP to acquire the necessary server address and port information required to implement this change. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us. Please note that webmail based email systems such as Gmail, Yahoo Mail, and Hotmail are not supported by Tone-to-Text. You must use an SMTP based email service from your local ISP.

Staying Connected

Have you ever been dispatched to an emergency scene and been short on manpower because some of your firefighters "didn't get the tone"? This happens all too often to departments all across the country due to many factors including building construction, distance from the dispatch tower, or even the weather. The Tone-to-Text application was designed to help eliminate this issue by providing a secondary means of communicating with your firefighters via alert messages sent directly to their cell phones.
